Simpler shapes lend themselves well as custom cake toppers. It gets the idea across and lets the crystals be the focus. This crystal cake topper also demonstrated a great use of “side coverage”. Shapes that don’t have small nooks and crannies turn out the best with side crystal coverage while still offering clarity.

With any of my designs, I like to always try and incorporate an initial so that the cake topper signifies the couple. I used a fun font called “Rodeo” (font not shown on website). The custom cowboy boot, in the colors of their wedding (of course!) ties it all together for this country western themed reception. Yee Haw!

I love the personalization behind this custom cake topper. It was for the wedding of two veterinarians: a horse doctor and a dog specialist. They faxed me a sketch of what they had in mind and I brought it to life for them. Love the creativity! Using contrasting color schemes for the 2 elements of the one topper helps keep them distinguished. Don’t miss the heart shaped cut out in place of one of the nail holes… too cute!

With over 60 colors available to devise your perfectly customized crystal cake topper from, believe it or not there are plenty of color mixes that I have yet to see. Even after 3 years, some results catch me off guard. This is one outcome that struck me and now I recommend these colors all the time.

Toppers With Glitz gets its big break! Equalaris Productions contacted me about creating a crystal monogram cake topper for their 2008 project, “Cordially Invited”. It wrapped at the end of 2007 and was chosen as an official selection at the Pan African Film Festival in February 2008. Way to go! I couldn’t make it to the LA premier but how excited was I to get invited to a Premier!? I can’t wait to see the movie (and our sparkling contribution).

Born and raised on the West coast, the ocean holds significant meaning to me. I am currently land locked in (beautiful) Colorado but get to wiggle my toes in the sand every year when I visit “home” and any opportunity for a getaway always involves water in some way… a cruise <sigh> or an outrageous white water adventure is right up my alley! When I was asked to make a cake topper for a wedding taking place on a yacht, my dream of dreams, I was thrilled to be a part of it!

Who said your crystal cake topper has to TOP your cake!? A lot of cakes are exquisitely designed and have a topper built in. While some can be replaced by an alternative cake topper, others unarguably look better in all their intended glory. Can’t you have your cake topper and monogram, too? The website is my classroom but the blog will be my playground! I thought this would be a great way to display more cake toppers and that it would be fun to share the background stories on some of my favorite toppers. Some stories are so unique – they just have to be heard! Whether it be a new color combination, a new concept (like “tier toppers”), or perhaps an outlet for me to to boast about a celebrity topper <wink>, I will post it here. Hopefully it will get the creative juices flowing and perhaps spark some ideas for those of you that are planning your big event.
