Tropical cake topper

This monogram topper brings fun and formal together, suiting this cake perfectly.  A whimsical font with a low contrast of colors keeps it upscale.  Fuchsia and orange is a color combo I am seeing a lot of and can be done really well with Swarovski crystals.  Sticking with either the citrus family or the purple family is recommended for the most elegant outcome.

A topper that complements receives compliments!

I love, love, love the purples and pinks that we are starting to see more and more of in weddings.  I say if you’re going to use color “go bold, be dramatic”.  The flowers on this cake are just gorgeous.  I like that the topper accents the cake but does not compete for the spotlight.

ps – I had to look up the right use of the word complement/compliment so I thought I would pass on the English lesson!  ; )

Clover topper

Greens are being used more and more… a trend for 2010?  I am getting asked for pictures of toppers done in these colors.  As I make them, I am going to get them posted here on the blog so be sure to check back!  An easy way to find the posts will be to type “green” in the Search field.

The way to pull off a red topper

Don’t be afraid to go bold with color.  A monochromatic topper in various shades of red is my favorite way to top a black & white cake.  The richness of the red rose petals at the base of the cake adds the perfect amount of flare to complete this dramatic look.  Love, love, love.

“I was so happy I did the 2 reds and threw in the Fire Opal as well.  It gave it a little POP and went perfectly with our wedding.” – Jamie
